Frank RIBAS
Photographe autodidacte, je suis devenu professionnel sur le tard.
Passionné par la photo et l'Afrique j'ai parcouru ce continent
durant vingt ans.
Installé au Cameroun entre 2003 et 2007 j'ai travaillé
pour plusieurs services de coopération européens ainsi
que pour le WCS (World Wildlife Fund), le WCS (Wildlife Conservation
Society)…
Parallèlement je développais des travaux photographiques
sur les tribus locales (Komas, Pygmées et Bamouns) ainsi que
le nu africain en studio.
J'ai fait une exposition sur la tribu Komas (femmes feuilles) lors
du festival du Scoop d'Angers (France) 2007 et une autre sur les Pygmées
en février 2008 à Dublin (Irlande). Deux autres expositions
sont en préparation.
Aujourd'hui, je suis correspondant en Irlande pour l'agence photo
Gamma Eyedea.

Frank RIBAS
As a self-taught photographer, I turned professional only later in
life. My passion for both photography and Africa led me to travel
the continent for 20 years. Whilst in Cameroon between 2003 and 2007,
I worked for various European Voluntary Services as well as the WWF
(World Wildlife Fund) and the WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society).
At the same time I developed a project about local tribes (Komas,
Pygmies and Bahmous) and focused on the African nude in my studio.
Since joining Gamma recently, I've held two photo exhibitions: the
first on the Koma tribe ("Femme Feuille", woman-leaf) at
Anger's Scoop Festival (Anger,France, October 2007) and the second
on Pygmies at the Alliance Française in Dublin (Ireland, February
2008). Two more exhibitions will be opening soon.
I am now a correspondent in Ireland for Gamma Photo Agency.
