Certains d'entre nous mettent plus de temps que
d'autres à entamer leur carrière. Dès sa prime
jeunesse, Saskia Bremer se passionne pour les arts. Après
une formation d'institutrice avec pour spécialisation le dessin,
elle enseigne de nombreuses années dans le cycle primaire.
Mais l'envie de suivre sa propre voie ne la quitte pas et en 1986,
elle risque le tout pour le tout en s'inscrivant à l'Académie
royale de La Haye. Les études très encadrées
de l'établissement ne l'enthousiasme guère mais elle
persévère, obtenant enfin son diplôme en 1991.
Libérée des contraintes académiques, elle trouve
sans tarder son propre style.
Créant des oeuvres aux couleurs vives combinant réalisme
et abstraction, Saskia Bremer connaît des débuts fulgurants.
En 1994, sa première exposition réussie lui permet de
réduire ses heures d'enseignement puis, dès 1996, de
se consacrer entièrement à son art. Sa réputation
se répand dans les milieux artistiques néerlandais.
Elle profite de plusieurs commandes et d'expositions aux Pays-Bas
ainsi qu'en Belgique, en Allemagne et au Portugal. En quelques jours
elle vend toutes les oeuvres exposées aux cimaises londoniennes
de la Boukamel Contemporary Art Gallery. Un critique d'art néerlandais
réputé a pu comparer ses oeuvres à celles de
Chagall - compliment peut-être exagéré mais compréhensible,
tellement les tableaux invitent au bonheur, selon les dires d'une
dame âgée qui acquit une de ses toiles après la
mort de son époux. Voilà qui suffit à convaincre
Saskia Bremer de poursuivre dans la voie qu'elle s'est tracée
et de répandre lumière et bonheur autour d'elle.

Some people take a roundabout way before actually
settling down to what they really want to do. From her early days
Saskia Bremer developed an artistic passion. However bread and butter
had to come on the table. She decided to follow the teachers training
with drawing as her specialization and worked many years in different
schools. However the passion never left her and in 1986 she decided
to leave the roundabout and she enrolls as an evening student at the
Royal Academy in The Hague. The very strict regime at the Academy
was not quite to her liking but finally she finished successfully
in 1991. However free from the rules at the Academy she quickly developed
her own style.
Bright colours and a combination of realism and abstract are the key
elements in her work. From that time on Saskia could not be stopped
anymore. After the first blow-out exhibition in 1994 Saskia decided
to cut the hours of teaching and after 1996 she became a full time
artist. After this her name starts circulating among art-loving Holland.
Various assignments and exhibitions come on her way, also in countries
like Belgium, Germany and Portugal. At the Boukamel Contemporary Art
Gallery in London all works displayed were sold out within days.
One well known art critic in Holland compared Saskia's works with
Chagall. Probably too much honour, but Saskia's work makes you happy:
that's a statement of an elderly lady who bought a painting of her
after her husband's death. That's more than enough encouragement for
Saskia to continue and make the world look bright and happy.
