Biographical notes english

Graduate of the Geneva School of Fine Arts, she also attended art schools in London and Mexico. Several major architectural sculpture restoration assignments in Geneva since 1981. Regularly exhibits in Switzerland and France.

Catalogue note

Theodora BARAZZONE's sculptures are resolutely anthropomorphic. These blossoming yet delicate or even innocent figures arouse a sense of direct sharing of the emotions hinted at by the subtle tensions inscribed in the stone. The apparently simple postures generate a strong feeling of urgency, a spinal stimulus, as though something were about to happen, as if a
movement was momentarily suspended or had been caught off-balance in a passing gaze. At the same time the dynamics of gravity, the invisible links with the earth, are at play, underscoring the contemplative sedateness or playful buoyancy of these quasi-allegorical or metaphorical figures.
